I have a bitter disdain for Mike McGuiness. I had a time with my landlord. I was beginning to go to the meetings at City Hall as an attempt to get some resolve. They all pointed to my City Councilperson, Melanie Rutherford. Who since then has cussed a fellow member and told him that she didn’t care about his dead mother. Someone taped it and spread it all over the internet. I haven’t had a chance to hear it, but I hear it was a dramatic conversation. They all preached her demise, and I say, “Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person.” The council had set up this escrow program in the city. I hadn’t wanted to get involved, because my landlord would go crazy, if he wasn’t getting paid and I was. I have had problems with him since I moved in that apartment with him coming into my apartment when I was at work, throwing money in my dirty panties, going through my trash and anything else he wanted to do. I came to City Council for help and as the President of the City Council, he should have come forward to ask me questions to get some insight on what was going on with my situation and asked me if he could help; nothing.
One thing that I noticed while at these meetings is the silent conversation with Kermit Williams. They would flash looks, nods and all kinds of stuff like that. I immediately took notice of the exchanges and took note and filed it in the “for later” file. When I saw the closeness of the pair, I knew they had made a pack. If the other won, the other would look after the other. Maybe with that county money or even be the others deputy mayor. There was something going on. Mike tried his best to impress me with his messages. He wants to impress the people of Pontiac with his charisma, and smooth talk, like the carpet baggers that tricked all the Black folk after the Civil War. Men who came to the cities of the South with their cheap luggage to reap the rewards from a city in shambles, and having no true ties to the city with IL attempt. Dierdre Waterman mentions these people in her first campaign. I don’t care what you think, she’s a very smart woman, and thanks to her husband that widow knows what’s going on. This is what came to mind...
Mike McGuiness has hooked up with some influential Black folk and is using his many charms, his mulatto children and fresh suits and his brown shoes to start a movement amongst Pontiac’s people. We have a lot more White people in Pontiac, now. Who are tired of the septic tanks and well water. Dips in their front yard for water run-offs and more. Mike needs to charge them for damning Cass, Elizabeth, and Sylvan Lakes up. The Clinton River has run its course. The Mill Dam no longer has the water gushing from the dam, anymore. Waterford pumps water from Cass into Elizabeth Lakes and vice versa. Against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). If they took down those damns, Waterford would stop being Waterford. All the lakes would flow into Pontiac and disappear.
My Biology teacher took us North where the Clinton River begins and it is barely a sputter, covered with grass and weeds. That was 30 years ago. It’s probably a trickle now. Black folk don’t care about water, boating or jet skiing, but you’re taking away a part of landscape and you should pay for it. There should be discussions about it. Plus, every spring Sylvan Lakes dumps some kind of chemical in their lake that kills the algae in the lake that kills everything in the lake and the river. Very illegal to the EPA and no one cares, because no one cares about the water here. There is a street in Pontiac in the back near Starr and Draper that has million-dollar homes sitting in Pontiac on the lake. Gorgeous homes. Who are these people? They are mostly Trumpers and the Dems that live back there didn’t want no one to know they were Dems and snatched my signs off there doors immediately. I think one man growled at me, when he pulled my door hanger off his screen door. Then two couples came out and pretended to hold a conversation, spying on me. These are the people who will vote for Mike Guiness.
As long the money is good, he’s good. The real issues will not be addressed and the people, the taxes, parks and roads will be ignored. My long-time friend who was my nail lady supports Kermit. She used her platform to spread rumors about Dierdre Waterman. She told me that Waterman had stolen millions of dollars from the city, which was a lie. It was fruit salad and coffee. Kermit never liked Ms. Waterman and tried to destroy her name anyway he could. Now, he and Mike are trying to rob the city. He’s lining himself with some powerful negroes to rob us blind. I’m still wondering what he did to get here. He is so good, but he is not that good. I’m wondering if he keeps snitching, can he keep stealing. I’m going to call them the “Rainbow Brigade.” That’s my first theory. (wink)
