Mo' Money, Mo' Problems: The Rise and Fall of Deirdre Waterman

In September of 2020, I was on Facebook and this guy posted that the City had jobs that was payin $15 an hour. I was unemployed and needed work. I got up on the next Monday to get one of those jobs. It was a chore. I had to walk the streets of Pontiac and knock on doors to ask if people had filled out their Census form and sent it in. The Mayor, Dierdre Waterman had a campaign to make sure Pontiac was counted. She wanted to make sure that we got our share of State and Federal funds that made it possible for Pontiac to grow. It seems that she was making sure that she got her fair share, too. My boss was a man named Ben. He was a thief and laced his pockets with city money. His girlfriend was having a baby, and he was using the city's insurance. He was living the good life, while insuring his nose was happy and content. He wasn't running the canvassing thing right, and was letting the workers write fake information proof that they had knocked on doors. They would lose me, walk a few streets making fake addresses up, go back to City Hall, turn in their contrived proof and get paid for the entire day. After a while of this, the Mayor made me the Lead. It became my job to watch Ben. He was something else to watch, and was milking the City out of thousands of dollars. My workers hated me and loved Ben. He let them get paid for doing nothing. I was happy when they finally ended the Census, because I was almost left to work days with the Mayors lapdog, Dewayne. Ben spent his days doing nothing and getting paid. It would up to Dewayne to hold his feet to the fire, but he never did do anything to Ben and now I know why. I hear from the streets that Waterman was stealing and money is missing from the coffers. I had made her life easy. The then Mayor wanted me on her side. I had been writing scathing blogs about her opposition. Mainly people on City Council who didn't like her. I believed in our Mayor and didn't believe she would steal a dime of our money. But once the Census had ended, She called me back to work the COVID screening station at City Hall. That's where I saw the most damning mess at City Hall. Ben had left, and was off at Blue Cross stealing their money. He's been on several international trips, since leaving the City. He also threw a spectacular wedding in Florida last year, and spared no expense. The way his nose needs powder, there is no way he's doing all this traveling without stealing. He's "gancking" Blue Cross just like he got the City of Pontiac. The Human Resource Director was shuffling old employees around to keep Ben in insurance. She finally had to call one of the Mayor's flunkies and cut her off completely to keep Ben in insurance and his girlfriend in tests and treatments. When the Governor called for another shutdown she fired me. I wasn't laid off like everyone else. I was let go. She was told by the crooked police that I was connected to the right kind of people who would put a stop to her stealing, and even throw her in jail. Now, I hear the Mayor was stealing! I am so disappointed and frankly humiliated. I believed in her. I thought she was fit and honest. All the stuff I witnessed at City Hall, I thought she was a victim. I thought that she was being duped by the people closest to her, but she was in on it the entire time. They say it comes from the head down. She was my hero. I believed that she was keeping all the money safely secure for the people of the City, but she was keeping it for herself. I am so hurt, but it happens to the best of us. We put our trust and loyalty into someone who isn't worthy. She came into my place of employment a few weeks back. She looked at me funny. She wanted to know if I knew. Dewayne had come in, too. He wore shades and his signature, too long suit. Both of them are guilty. They took me out one day and I spent the entire day with them and some pretty big political heavy weights. I felt important and redeemed, but it was all a farce. They were stealing the whole time and I was the biggest fool for being involved in a day, a minute or an hour. Dewayne had a woman in City Hall and trying to put notches on his belt using city money. She always seemed to be concieted and arrogant. Throwing big parties so she could be the center of attention. It seems she needed to have money to reign as a self-realized queen. I just hope she survives...
